I'm 57 and mom got me started on laxatives at a very young age. I have been dependent on them since. I know it's unhealthy (I am an R.N.) but what does one do with a dependence like this? I've been on an infomercial product named Dual Action Cleanse that promised to "retrain bowels to normal function". After almost one year all it did was make me more dependent and the main ingredient was cascara sagrada, which I found out ,only recently, is the number one ingredient in laxatives, and is terribly unhealthy for bowel health. So, I figure I will cleanse with Colonix to make sure there are no parasites causing a problem and figure out where to go from here. So far, my husband and I have been on this product for 3 weeks. He hasn't noticed anything, which is fine, not everyone has parasites. I have been ridding myself of sesame seed-appearing things since day one. Sometimes they are larger.Today my stool was about a third "ropey", but usually just semi formed, reddish brown in color and aweful smelling(which is typical of stool when doing any cleanse) I have been having a bowel movement every morning on Colonix. I did have that "grand dump" evacuation that people talk about and for that I am also grateful-it just felt so healthy! I have also started a program last week (from TV) called Colon Flow. This is to aid in bowel function naturally as well. You just take 2 capsules a day and all it is is lactobacillis, bildobactirium, vitamin c, apple pectin and magnesium citrate.I figured this wouldn't interfere with the Colonix program. My diet is very "clean", and I exercise regularly and drink 50-64 oz. of water a day. After this program I will be at a loss. Can anyone advise me? Can I stay on Colonix forever or is that not healthy either? I wish you all the best in health!
Thanks,

Pam, thanks for all your input. The Colonix fiber appears to be safe to continue using on a daily basis. I've haven't been keeping up with the daily fiber, laziness and forgetfulness are the main reasons. In general, I've had a fairly sound digestive system although in the 80's hubby and I had to deal with parasites and in the late 90's I dealt with H. Pylori.
My husband has been alternating the Colonix with less expensive fiber. We still plan to use the full program once or twice a year for a month just for maintenance.
