Started Dr. Natura 3 days ago and constipated as ever!

Hi. I'm new to this and have been reading all the threads on Dr. Natura in here to help me decide if I should do this program or not. I decided to and paid $88 for one month. So far, I've gotten no sleep whatsoever due to getting up every hour to pee because of all the water during the day and tea at night. This is very discouraging. Secondly, I have not had a bowel movement since I started it. I feel full but it's not a symptom I'm unfamiliar with, hence the reason I decided to try Dr. Natura. I thought SOMETHING positive would happen by now, if nothing more than being able to go to the bathroom without getting tears in my eyes.

I am posting to get feedback from anyone who can tell me to hang in there, to be patient or someone who can tell me to worry and try something else.

I'm scared and wondering if I should try a laxative while I am on this. Although, that seems to go against everything that this Colonix program is all about.  help !

I say hang in there!  I was a skeptic too, but figured that it can't hurt because I have been constipated all my life.  I am on day 10 now and only yesterday did I start seeing real results.  I am really happy with the last 2 days and it can only get better.  So just keep on keepin on and it will work out! wink

Thanks for your reply Dazey. It's now day 6 and still nothing. I realize everyone is different, but my worst thoughts seem to be happening. It seems nothing is gonna work for me. I will post if something miraculous happens in the next few days. If not, it's back to laxatives for me mad

Re: Started Dr. Natura 3 days ago and constipated as ever!

Hey Karen and others:

I noticed you said "back to the laxatives for me" and I wanted to share some information with those who may not know about the long term side effects of laxatives, and how that may actually contribute to constipation while on this program.  Laxatives stimulate muscle contraction in the large intestine (peristalsis) to promote movement of stools. A major reason that we become constipated in the first place is a sluggish bowel not moving stools--the longer the stool stays in the LI, the more water gets absorbed, the drier it becomes, and the more difficult it becomes to pass.  The problem with relying on laxatives is that, over longterm use, they can actually lead to constipation.  The large intestine becomes tolerant of their effects and then has an even more difficult time pushing stools through.  Adding more laxatives will only make the problem worse -- a vicious cycle for someone just trying to have a BM.

Now here's where Colonix comes into play.  The fiber powder contains herbal ingredients that are laxatives.  Specifically aloe and rhubarb root (Lu Hui and Da Huang for those who look into Chinese Medicine). They are considered to be used in extreme circumstances of constipation and are not recommended for long term use for the same reasons I mentioned above.

Now getting back to the post --- Could it be possible that Karen was beginning the program with an already "lazy colon" and that adding even more laxatives (from the fiber powder) had the opposite desired effect? I can only speculate on this because colonix does not list the actual dosages of their "all natural"  ingredients.  Dosages are important to those who study herbal medicine because it allows one to determine how much of this herb and that herb must be balanced by other herbs within the formula.

AND it is important to always remember this: "all natural" does not necessarily equal "safe." Herbal pharmacies were THE pharmacies back in the day, and many of today's modern pharmaceuticals are derived from plant tissue. Bottom line: plants can cause side effects if taken improperly.  It requires the expertise of a highly trained individual to make an herbal recommendation and should be left in the hands of someone who has a strong background in herbal medicine---say your local Chinese medicine practitioner, AKA acupuncturist.  An herbal consult is a quick way to learn if this formula is right for YOU because to an Chinese medicinal practitioner, everyone is looked at as an individual with unique patterns of symptoms.  AND that is why these one-size-fits-all programs never really work for everyone --because they cannot possible anticipate every customer's medical background.

Hope this was helpful and not TOO long winded!!

Wow! Thanks for all the info. Certainly food for thought and a possible reason some do not respond as well to the program as those of us who don't deal with that issue. Thanx again!
