Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

Hello Everyone,

I just started the Colonix program yesterday.  I read a lot about it before I started it but no one said anything about how AWFUL it all tastes.  I couln't even drink the fiber goop ... I just kept on gagging.  This morning I put it in apple juice instead of water, I barely stirred it and I just chugged it as fast as I could...only one gag this morning.  The tea tastes terrible too and the worst thing is that the taste lingers.  But Im also a whiny little kid that is very picky about food.  Ha Ha

I started this program because I never go... I may go a week with out going and when I do, its deffinately not a weeks worth.  I eat pretty healthy...mostly because Im too picky for everything else.  I have tried fiber suppliments and laxitives...I still don't go.  I always feel bloated and cramped and Im just sick of it...so as nasty as it tastes (its the texture too) I must carry on because I hate this feeling more than I hate the taste.

Even though I eat pretty healthy, I am 22 and occasionally go out and drink.  I dont do it very often but what is the effect of drinking alcohol?  Should I just drink extra water?

In conclusion....DAY 1...nothing happened!

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

I didn't mind the flavour of the fibre drink the first week ... but then I was only using 1/2 a scoop ... not I''m not so crazy about it and pretty much chug it ... I've tried it with the five alive juice and with fruit flavoured bottled water and it's a bit better .. I think I would drink the glass of water after it anyway just to get the taste out my mouth....I don't share your opinion of the tea though ... I actually enjoy it and look forward to ending my day with it ... although I sweeten it with honey because I could never drink it the way it is.

I haven't expeerienced anything like what has been desribed in the testimonials yet and I am on day 20 .. but one of the nice things is that I am sleeping well and waking up feeling rested... and that is something that I haven't experienced for a long time.

Good luck and keep us posted...

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

edelenc,

When using the fiber you need to drink immediately and in apple juice it works well. I would also recommend that you drink more water - it is important on this cleanse to help you with elimination. I have been using the cleanse for 8 years and it is an amazing product if used correctly. As for the tea it does work when cold, so I usually brew 2 cups from one tea bag - take out the tea bag and keep the 2nd cup for the next day. Drink it like water and then follow with another glass of water. This worked for me at the beginning until I just got used to the taste. You should be eliminating the first day - if not you should call the help desk as they will tell you what to do about adjusting the cleanse to work for you.
You have made a wise choice in starting the cleanse especially at your age and your elimination history. You will find that you should be eliminating at least 1 - 3x a day. You will definately feel like a different person. Good luck and keep us informed on how the program is working for you.

Try mixing the fiber with vanilla soy milk....if you put it in a blender with a couple of ice cubes, and drink it through a straw...it's actually a really tasty morning smoothie...I find I'm not even hungry for breakfast after that.   The straw and ice really help with the whole terrible texture thing.  I  gagged the stuff down the first few days until I discovered the soy milk, ice, straw combo.  Next week, I'm gonna try it in the chocolate soy milk...chocolate covered banana fiber smoothie, anyone?

I thought the fibre had to be mixed with a glass of water or juice followed by another full glass of water and THEN we could eat ... does anyone know if  modifying this will change the effectiveness of the program?

Fyzer I've been mixing my fibre in a protein smoothie.  I called the customer service line today after seeing your question and they informed me that I can use juice with the fiber but not to mix it with the protein powder.  woops!

That's good to know Bigrat .. when I saw yorur post I almost mixed it with protein powder this morning then thought I would stick to water and chug it ....I have a protein powder that is clear like juice after it's mixed and is nice in the summer time because it isn't heavy or creamy ... it's Gourmet Whey and comes in lemon lme, ice tea or cran-raspberry flavours mmmm....  I did find though thtat the fruit flavoured water gives some variation and because it isn't sweetened I think it should be OK ... happy chugging

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

Ive been doing this for a few days now and I have finally been going to the bathroom which is not usual for me, sadly. I have been sticking to the instructions really well except for one night I got home too late and didn't drink the tea.  The next day I did not go to the bathroom at all...so its the tea thats making me go.

I know before that I was complaining about the flavor and I really appreciate all of your suggestions.  I go to work really early in the morning so there is no time for me to make a smoothie...Im usually running late.  Even though I do not like its taste of flavor, I have become used to chugging it with some apple juice.  Its not the most pleasent thing to experience but I gotta do it and it wont be forever AND Ill feel better...right?  So far I feel the same; the only difference is now I go more regularly than before...but its still just 5 days in.

I also put apple juice in the tea at night and drink it cold.  I find that apple juice works well because it is soooo sweet and flovorful.  It also hides the color of the fiber well.  When I first chugged it with water it grossed me out visually on top of its taste and texture...apple juice helps.

When are we supposed to get our first funny looking BM?

Because we are supposed to mix the fibre with pure or filtered water, you might want to pick up some bottled fruit water and use that for a try.

I am on day 24 now  and am still have not experienced the funny looking things that others have.  I called the help desk and was told that the average time is 3 to 4 weeks ... so the  wait goes on ...

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

Just had my first weird one...and I am weirdly excited.  For the record that took me 10 days.

So, as I mentioned before...I am fairly ragular now which is big for me because I was going once a week before however, I am more bloated than ever and have gained 5 lbs.  Im not exhagerating...5 whole pounds!!

Does anyone know what happens if you don't take the Paranil??  I really don't think that I have parasites and I am a really bad pill taker...so...does it really effect the cleanse?

I gained 5 lbs as well edelenc .. frustrating .. I have lost a couple but still not down to what I was before.  Even though I was only using 1 scoop of fibre, I have cut back to about 1/2 to 3/4  based on another post that said something about too much for what your body needs will have the reverse affect.... maybe that is why I am feeling bloated and have gained.

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

About weight...I got back from a trip weighing 12 pounds more than when I left.  I hadn't had a BM the entire trip...and you could SEE it.  My belly was so distended, it was insane.  I didn't fit into my pants.  Now, 12 days after starting the cleanse (which I started the week after the trip) I'm back to my pre-trip weight and belly has gone down (after the initial crazy bloating of the first 10 days).

Patience is tough for me, but it has been worth it---even if I had to wear my elastic waist skirts for two weeks to work!

Also, any squeemish guys look away, but for ladies out there, I also think that the monthly cycle may have an effect on the course of this cleanse.  Nothing is reported on the website about this, not that I expect it, but I think it's something worth having info about out there.

Ok...I was deffinatly not regular before I started this.  I have been doing this for 13 days.  At first, I was going once a day and it was great.  Well, its been 3 days and I haven't gone at all.  I have increased the tea but it doesn't seem to work.  I am seriously doubting this stuff.

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

There were a couple of days where things were not moving along as they had been and I took someone else's advise to cut back the fibre ... that seemed to make things ahem flow a little smoother.

Thanks Fyzer...I'll give it a try.  However, I did go this morning but I think I should cut back on the fiber anyways.

I finally went today and it was A LOT.  It was very squishy so I couldn't really tell if it was anything like those pictures.  To be honest, it smelled so bad I didn't want to keep it around long enough to figure it out.

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

Can I suggest that you hold off on the fiber for a few days and increase the steeping time of the tea just until you become regular. Then only take 1/2 a scoop of fiber and continue on with the cleanse normally.

How are doing now?

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

edelenc, I find that my body took awhile to adjust to the program.  I know what you mean about that uncomfortable feeling.  I'm on my 18th day and it took a long time to de-bloat.  How long are you steeping your tea?  My advice would be to stick with the 1/2 scoop and increase the amount of time you're steeping the tea by 2 minutes per day until you start to get regular (but not loose).  Make sure you're drinking 8 glasses of water too - just don't over do it...I made the mistake of drinking too much water in the first couple days thinking more is better...but that's not the case.  It just made me super bloated and doesn't allow the fiber to do it's thing.

Re: Beginning the Colonix program- edelenc- 07/18/07

bigrat, I have been steeping my tea for 20 minutes (I even poke the tea bag around in the glass) which is way more than they say to but its the result of me increasing the time each night until I finally go.  The instructions say to increase it until you have the urge to go in the morning...but Im glad if I have the urge to go at any time of the day. ha ha.  I feel like Im drinking a lot of water...I guess I could always drink more...I don't think I drink enough to be considered "too much".  My plan is to continue to increase the time of the tea and go down to half a scoop of fiber.  Thanks for your response.

I believe with you reducing the fiber to half a scoop it should work out for you. If you are finding that you are still having challenges with your bm's try steeping one tea bag making 2 cups and drink one cup in the morning after breakfast and then another in the evening. I had this problem one time on the colonix program and I was told to do just that until I was regular. That helped me get going. How are things now?
