Let's talk about poop, baby!

I ordered Dr. Natura's Colonix yesterday, overnight-ed it, and expect to receive it tomorrow when I get off work.

Some background information: I'm a 25 year old female, 5'8", and around 115 lbs.  The only animal flesh I eat is seafood and turkey, and only occasionally.  A typical weekday for me consists of either a half grapefruit or a multi-grain light English muffin and four (ugh, yes, four) cups of coffee with Splenda and sugarfree French Vanilla Coffeemate for breakfast, a banana for a snack (maybe three days a week I actually eat the snack), an all fruit and ice smoothie and shot of wheatgrass for lunch, then anything I want for dinner.  Dinner sometimes is pizza, sometimes a bean&cheese burrito, sometimes swordfish and vegetables, sometimes whole wheat pasta with marinara and soy meatballs…. essentially anything I feel like. I do, however, drink at least a glass of red wine a day.  I try to drink water, but hate it, and usually finish only about a liter a day.

I am an educational and behavioral therapist for children with pervasive developmental delays, so my days are long and physical.  I'm up at 6 every morning, work from 7:30am-6pm and, even though I try to have a life outside of work, I'm very exhausted.  I love what I do, but my kiddos exhaust me.

My reason for doing the Colonix regimen is that I (a) feel like I need to be cleaned out from within, and (b) I sometimes feel I lack the energy someone as young and healthy as myself should have.  I want to take advantage of my youth and live every day to the fullest, and I don't feel like I'm doing that with the lifestyle I'm living right now.

I plan on keeping a daily recording of my Colonix regimen for the next three months. Think blog but better, because it's all about poop. Being the immature person I am, I never stopped thinking poop was funny like I was supposed to. Woops.

Re: Let's talk about poop, baby!

I suspect we shall look forward to some "crappy posts" from you!! wink

All kidding aside, welcome to the forum. I do want to offer a gentle reminder to PLEASE make sure you drink sufficient water with the program. You may find you face a little bloating early on as I did, not something I was used to but with the fiber you really need to be hydrated. Perhaps some lemon would help make the water more palatable to you.

Wish you success! smile

Re: Let's talk about poop, baby!

First week update!
(I received the package on Tuesday afternoon and started on Wednesday morning)

1. WEDNESDAY

6AM: 2 Paranil and my first 8oz. of water
I started a routine of bringing the glass of water and two pills into the bathroom with me when I go in for my shower so I can turn on the water, then force down the pills and water quickly while the shower warms up.

6:15AM: 1/2 scoop of the fiber in a prepackaged pure acai smoothie, with 1/2 banana and some low sugar orange juice added.
Tasty, but hard to drink fast since it was more of a breakfast than just a fiber shake.
Followed with my second 8oz. of water.
4 cups (I know, gross) of coffee with Splenda and sugarfree French vanilla Coffeemate
I don't think I've ever had 16oz. of water in my system by
6:30AM, except perhaps if I've been traveling via airplane.

Throughout the day: Got in three additional cups of water by 5:30PM. I've acquired a new hobby of peeing. It can be rather inconvenient, although I know it's healthy. Probably not the best to have only drunk 5 of my 8 glasses by this hour, so I know I must increase during-the-day intake tomorrow.  In general, ate more poorly than usual today. Was ravenous at lunchtime, for some reason, and let loose and ate rather than having my usual all fruit smoothie and shot of wheatgrass.  Made me feel yucky and unlike myself.

6PM (dinner): Went out to Karl Strauss and had 1/2 Gardenburger and about 1/2 of the accompanying french fries, along with a glass of red wine, whilst discussing parasites in poop and other inappropriate topics with a friend. No water with dinner, so still at the dreaded 5 cups.

Evening/Night: Managed to get in three more glasses of water, with some degree of force. Steeped the tea for 1.5 minutes and was nervous that it would take effect during my morning therapy session tomorrow.  I'm at the tail-end of a cold (tuberculosis, actually, according to WebMD), so I followed the tea with 2 Flora Protect, then some Robitussin DM and was in bed by 11. Got the best night of sleep I've had in several weeks.

Potty Info: A few BMs today, but no more or different than usual. A bit of a bloated feeling throughout the day. Very gassy. Good thing I work with kids and I can blame it on them.

General Feeling/Mood: Very grouchy and unusually impatient! Neither very acceptable in my daily life and career. Physically, besides my new peeing hobby, I felt normal. Vaguely tired and "backed up."

2. THURSDAY

6AM: 2 Paranil and my first 8oz. of water
Shower routine again

6:15AM: 1/2 scoop of the fiber blended with frozen mango, blackberries, 1/2 banana, and some low-sugar OJ.
Tasty again.
Followed with my second 8oz. of water.
4 cups of coffee with Splenda and sugarfree French vanilla Coffeemate

Throughout the day: Got down four glasses of water. (I'm moving up!)  Had my usual fruit smoothie and wheatgrass for lunch and felt good.  Much better than eating solid foods at lunchtime for me.  Also had two Coca Cola Zeros throughout the day, which I know do not count for my 8 glasses of water, but they do count for my new peeing hobby. At one point had to go so bad in the middle of a therapy session that I had to being my patient (a two year old) out to his grandma so I could go! How do you adequately hydrated people cope?

Evening/Night: Had my hair done right after work today, so did not get home until late in the evening. Should have brought water into the salon with me to try to get in another glass or so. Had Del Taco for dinner: a bean and cheese burrito and french fries (ew, I just realized I ate french fries twice this week). I pity those who live in places without Del Taco. No wine tonight smile Did not have my last few glasses of water at the end of the night. Only drank the tea (steeped 2 minutes this time) and about a glass of water to get down my Flora Protect. Slept very well again.

Potty Info:  Felt like I went less today than I should have/usually do and felt bloated and gross. Sooo much gas. I think something is rotting inside of me.  I know I can relate this to my low water consumption, though, so I vow to do better tomorrow.

General Feeling/Mood:  Definitely not as grouchy and impatient as yesterday, but not at my prime either. I wonder what would be causing this, and if it could even have anything to do with the Colonix. Probably not. Physically, bloated and full of poop. Very, very tired.

3. FRIDAY

6AM: 2 Paranil and 8oz. of water

6:15AM: 1/2 scoop of the fiber blended with low-sugar OJ and some frozen blackberries. Had an epiphany that I am turning the fiber consumption into a breakfast of sorts with the smoothies I'm making, and felt concerned because the directions say that one can eat breakfast immediately following the fiber powder and 8oz. of water, but nothing about making it all one.  Wondered if this might be why I'm not having super dramatic effects.
Followed with 8oz. of water.

Throughout the day: Vegetable soup and whole grain baguette with cheese for lunch. Did better on the water; got in almost all of it by the end of the work day.

Evening/Night: Went out with friends right after work. Skipped dinner but had a few glasses of wine, bruschetta, and pistachios.  Got home late and opted out of the tea. Didn't have the energy to brush my teeth or wash my face, let alone brew and drink tea.

Potty Info: Four or five BMs today, which is more than usual for me, but not not completely unheard of. All solid and normal looking. In the evening and night I was super bloated and crampy again. By bedtime felt absolutely icky and full of poop. Even though I went a bunch of times, I never really felt like I was done.

General Feeling/Mood: Grumpy and tired again, but for some reason after work had a ton of energy, which is very unusual for me. I can't take any more of this grumpiness! Will spend the weekend figuring out what I need to do.

4. SATURDAY

8:30AM: 2 Paranil with 8oz. of water.

9:00AM: Fiber powder mived in blender with water (as per yesterday's epiphany)
Oh my goodness, ew. I'm not grossed out easily, but gag reflexed several times whilst trying to force this down. DO NOT RECOMMEND only mixing the powder with water. I don't care if I'm doing it wrong by making a breakfast smoothie; I'm never mixing only with water again.
8oz. of water.

Throughout the day: I had a big 30th bday party to go to tonight, so I made a big effort to get my water in before I left for that at 5PM and I did it! Foodwise, I had my favorite lil breakfast sandwich (2 cooked eggwhites, soy sausage, and soy American cheese on a light multigrain English muffin), some plain Activia yoghurt with Splenda mixed in, and some coffee.  Also made a smoothie with frozen strawberries, mango, and blueberries, and low-sugar OJ.

Evening/Night: Snacked on half of a cheese enchilada, some refried beans, and numerous cocktails (interspersed with even more water) at the party.  Did not make the tea when I got home because I was so tired. I'm so bad on weekends!

Potty Info: 4 or 5 solid BMs and extremely gassy again. This is becoming the norm and I hate it.

General Feeling/Mood: Fairly good moos, but a bit shakier than usual.  Not grumpy, but dead tired by 11PM, which was most likely the result of alcohol, dancing, and the sun.

5. SUNDAY

8:30AM: Paranil with 8oz. of water

8:45AM: 3/4 scoop of the fiber mixed with an acai smoothie pack, 1/2 banana, and a few tablespoons of low-sugar OJ, followed by 8 more oz. of water.

Throughout the day: Was busy cleaning and organizing the house, and had a hard time keeping track of my water intake, although I'm pretty sure I got the necessary 8 glasses in. Lunch was 6 small soy meatballs cooked in marinara sauce and spinach, which toped 1/2 cup whole wheat pasta spirals. Also had a Kashi "Crunchy" caramel fiber bar.

Evening/Night: 2 slices pineapple pizza and several glasses of wine for dinner. Wanted to get back on the tea tonight and steeped it for about 3 minutes.

Potty Info: Not too much! Less than usual, and I'm annoyed. For the time being I'll blame it on the neglecting of the tea. Tomorrow begins a new, and hopefully better, week.

General Feeling/Mood: Not too shabby. Rather energetic for a Sunday and optimistic. My insides feel a bit icky because I haven't gone enough today, but I'm looking forward to change in the upcoming week.

And Laura, you are completely right. My days without enough water leave me bloated and uncomfortable, and I hope I've learned my lesson by now that dehydration does not fly.

Re: Let's talk about poop, baby!

Hi !
I just wanted to let you know that for the first couple of weeks I had the same issues! I felt like I was not going to the bathroom half as much as before I started the program! Now, however, I definetly go. Some days more then other, but your body eventually catches up!

The water is not so hard for me, but the paranil capsules make me gag...but what can you do! WE all have our little issues!

Good luck!

Re: Let's talk about poop, baby!

WOW! Great log of your overall experience and how you're feeling.

I have to take the fiber with OJ or some other fruit juice to get it down okay...my husband manages to get it down with water but not me! Yuukkk!

Hang in there! smile

Oh man, Laura, your husband must have a very nonsensitive gag reflex! I'm going to try just OJ tomorrow in the blender and see how that works out.

Re: Let's talk about poop, baby!

Just two days this time!

6. MONDAY

6AM: 2 Paranil with 8oz. of water

6:15AM: 1 full scoop of the fiber powder blended with low sugar OJ, frozen strawberries, and 1/2 banana. Still yummy, but not quite as filling. Difficult to drink fast since I added more OJ to thin out the larger amount of fiber, leading to an altogether bigger drink.
Followed by 8oz. of water.

Throughout the day: About 32 oz water before 5:30PM, which is an accomplishment for me. All fruit smoothie and a shot of wheatgrass for lunch. Snacked on a Fiber One granola bar and "Daybreak" trailmix blend to stave off hunger.

Evening/Night: Dinner at a local beanery with family. BBQ turkey sandwich, baked beans, and corn on the cob. Lots of wine tonight. Had a big night out of Super Scrabble (which I won with the help of "frozen" places on a triple word score!), drank too much wine, and got to bed way too late. Not too happy with myself. Something like this has the capability of ruining my week.

Potty Info: Yowzers. It's all coming out now. I went 6 or 7 times- all solid and semi-solid- but never really felt like everything was out of my system. Still feeling bloated and "fat."

General Feeling/Mood: A world of difference from last week moodwise.  I'm back to my patient, tolerant self. I'm almost as energetic as usual, but caught myself a few times during the day having to force my enthusiasm. But I've always believed in faking it until I make it, and that worked fine today. Not tired, but not full of energy. Somewhere in between. Finished the evening with 2 Flora Protect and the tea steeped for 3.5 minutes.

7. TUESDAY

7AM: 2 Paranil with 8oz. of water

7:15AM: 1 full scoop of the fiber powder blended with low sugar OJ, frozen strawberries, and 1/2 banana. Scrambling because I had to leave for work in 15 minutes and even had to opt out of a shower this morning. I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF FOR STAYING OUT LATE LAST NIGHT!
Followed by 8 oz. of water.

Throughout the day: One of my clients canceled today, which gave me a four hour midday break. Got to take a nap, which was lovely. Lunch was a serving of vegetarian chili, which I added extra kidney, black, and pinto beans to, topped with 2% cheddar cheese and onions. 40 oz. of water by 4PM, then the rest before 8PM. By the end of the night I think I actually ended up drinking more than the allotted 8 glasses.

Evening/Night: Had late dinner plans for 9PM (late for me), so snacked on Triscuts in hummus after work, and lots of water. Dinner was miso salmon, rice, and snap peas, too much bread, and a handful or so of fries. 2 glasses of wine. God I love wine. I love my liver, too, though, so I may need to lay off more often. Ending the night right now (too late again) with 2 Flora Protect and the tea, this time steeped for 4 minutes.

Potty Info: The reserves are being eliminated from my system again today. Went a ton of times, but I still feel fat and full. It's so weird. I feel like I should be empty but I'm not at all. Oh, and FYI, even though I'm going up to ten times a day now, the urge is never unbearable. There have been a few times that I have to go real bad, but I never feel like I need to find a bathroom immediately or anything.

General Feeling/Mood: Pretty upset with myself for essentially ruining my week on a Monday night by staying out too late and drinking too much wine. Otherwise, just sleepy from my late night, but not as bad as I thought I'd feel. The nap definitely helped. One thing I noticed today, though, is that I was PALE as heck. Weird.

P.S. Alexza, thanks for the feedback. You're right, we all have our issues smile It does comfort me a bit to know that you went through some of the same physical symptoms as I have and that things got better. I'm hanging in there!
